A Marriott hotel brand, called Element by Westin, will be coming to Smyrna as a boutique hotel.

The Smyrna City Council agreed on Jan. 22 to this rezoning with Councilman Charles Welch absent.

The property was rezoned from Office/Institutional to Tourist Services-Conditional for the seven-story hotel of 136 rooms and 103,000 square feet.

This hotel will be built on top of a two-story parking deck with 101 parking spaces.

On nearly one acre, the property at 2875 Spring Hill Parkway is next to the Holiday Inn Express and Hyatt Place Hotels and the Emerson Center Office Park.

MCP III Real Estate/Buckhead Hospitality America is the applicant.

Applicant attorney Garvis Sams said this hotel is designed for the double-income millenial.

No one from the public expressed opposition, and the proposal was recommended for unanimous approval by the planning and zoning commission.
