The Roswell 911 Emergency Communications Division has received its first Public Safety Communications Accreditation from a national law enforcement review commission.

The emergency dispatch center had to demonstrate full compliance with 212 performance standards of the Commission of Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, according to a Roswell Police Department announcement. The standards focus on policy and procedure, management, operations and support services.

“The commissioners were complimentary of our excellent training and quality assurance program,” said 911 Director Melissa Alterio. “This is an incredible accomplishment and a true testament to the dedication, professionalism and hardworking team of 911 professionals of Roswell 911.”

The accreditation runs for four years. During that period, the 911 Division must submit annual reports attesting to continued compliance with the standards, officials said.
