The Riverdale Town Center has helped a Tennessee brick maker land a national industry award. Work on the Riverdale complex earned Johnson City, Tenn-based General Shale a silver award in the Brick Industry Association”s municipal/government/civic category. General Shale Chief Executive Dick Green called the Riverdale complex “an outstanding example of how brick enhances the architecture and design of highly visible structures in communities across the nation.” The 15-acre Riverdale Town Center was completed in September 2010 and houses city hall, community center and amphitheater. Winners will receive national recognition through a special Brick in Architecture insert in the December 2013 issue of Architect magazine.
