The Kiwanis Club of Marietta is looking for more than 3,000 volunteers to buy or carry flags to plant in front of the Visitor Center at Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park to remember lives lost a decade ago on Sept. 11.The 3 by 5-foot flags flags will fly through Sept17. The weekend will include a parade starting 8 a.m., Sept 10 from Grace Community Church, 770 Kennesaw Ave., Marietta to the park and a memorial service at 8:30 a.m., Sept. 11. Night paving is scheduled to begin today on Highway 9/Alpharetta Highway in Roswell as part of the Midtown Streetscape Project. The project is expected to be completed in 40 days, weather permitting.
The contractor will begin by installing synthetic asphalt in the center lane from Norcross Street to Mansell Circle. The work will involve temporary lane closures along the corridor as the project progresses. PATRICK FOX
