Memorial for fire victims is Sunday

A memorial picnic for fire victims Tami and Jess Willadsen will be held at noon Sunday at Lake Avondale, Avondale Estates, on the one-year anniversary of the tragedy. Both mother and daughter were killed in the April 12, 2014, fire in their home right off the lake. Husband Dave and son Jack Willadsen survived what former Mayor Ed Rieker called the city’s worst tragedy in “at least two generations.” According to a city news release the picnic has “no set end time or agenda; residents are encouraged to come whenever they’d like and stay for as long as they’d like.”
