Kids walking to schools in six different locations in Henry County now have an easier and safer way to get there thanks to the recent completion of Safe Routes to School projects at five elementary schools and one middle school. The projects were completed through a grant Henry County Schools received in 2011. Wesley Lakes, McDonough, Red Oak, Fairview, and Hampton Charter elementary schools, along with Stockbridge Middle School, received improvements to infrastructure leading to the schools. Sidewalks, crosswalks, and flashing lights were some of the major upgrades completed. Just over $700,000 in projects were completed by Vertical Earth Inc.
