A resolution to accept $100,000 in state funds for the third phase of the Old Mill Ruins Park Trail project is on the agenda of a special called meeting Wednesday of the Roswell City Council.

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources grant would be applied toward the $361,227 estimated cost to expand the Old Mill Ruins trail system and incorporate pedestrian access in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, according to the agenda item.

The city’s $261,227 share of project costs will come out of its 2017 capital funds budget.

An expanded system of boardwalks and overlooks will allow “additional connectivity to more historical mill ruins, which are located to the right of the covered bridge linking three city parks and the National Park Services’ Vickery Creek Unit recreational area,” the grants resolution states.
