Georgia Bureau of Investigation director Vernon Keenan will be honored for his commitment to open government.

The Georgia First Amendment Foundation will present Keenan with the Charles L. Weltner Freedom of Information Award on Tuesday.

Weltner, who served as a Georgia congressman and chief justice of the Georgia Supreme Court, was a champion of open and ethical government, said Hollie Manheimer, the foundation's executive director. Keenan was selected because he embodies those same principles, Manheimer said.
