Lorenzo Brown is back in the NBA.
The 26-year-old Roswell native signed a two-way contract with the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday for the 2017-18 season.
Brown, who played at Centennial High School before heading to Hargrave Military Academy and then N.C. State, has been an NBA journeyman since he was drafted by the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2013’s second round. Since then, the 6-foot-5 guard has played in Philadelphia, Minnesota, Phoenix and Detroit, and he has also played in China and in the NBA’s D-League.

The two-way contract that Brown has signed is new to the NBA and was made so teams could sign players and stash them in the G-League – which used to be the D-League before it was sponsored by Gatorade. Fellow north Fulton native Kobi Simmons recently signed a two-way deal with the Memphis Grizzlies.
With this deal, Brown will earn a base salary of $75,000 in the 2017-18 season, but has the potential to earn up to $279,000 with the Raptors, who won 51 games last year and advanced to the second round of the playoffs. The two-way deal does have limitations though, as players under it are only allowed to spend 45 days on an NBA team’s active roster.
In China last year, Brown averaged 24 points per game, while shooting 30 percent from three-point range over 20 games. In 11 D-League appearances last season, he averaged 23.6 points and 7.7 rebounds per-game.
As a junior at N.C. State, Brown led the ACC in assists with 7.2 per game and was named to the all-conference second team.
