Peachtree City is making fall landscaping a bit easier by offering free mulch to residents on Saturday.

From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., city staff will be available at the Compost Facility at 100 Rockaway Road, off Hwy. 74 South opposite the animal shelter, to “happily fill your bags, buckets, trailer or truck bed with 100 percent recycled mulch.” Mulch is always free at the facility, but Saturday’s event will have expanded hours and free loading help. Contractors and professional landscapers are not eligible, however. The mulch is derived from natural materials collected by city crews and from yard waste brought there by homeowners.

Residents can still drop off leaves, grass and shrub clippings, pine straw, tree limbs, branches or logs less than four feet long and under 12 inches in diameter. The facility does not accept lumber or wood furniture.
