The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners has adopted a millage rate of 7.936 mills, unchanged from last year.
Commissioners on July 18 approved the county’s maintenance and operations millage rate of 4.791 mills, which will result in a net 7.42 percent increase in M&O property taxes over the rollback millage rate due to growth in the tax digest, according to a county announcement.
The 2019 tax digest grew by 8.37 percent over last year’s digest; 4.11 percent was due to new construction, and 4.26 percent, from increased values from reassessments of non-homestead properties, officials said.
The board also approved a fire rate of 2.175 mills and a reduced bond rate of 0.970 mills. The millage rates will fund the 2020 operating budget now in preparation and to be adopted in October.
At a special called meeting July 23, commissioners adopted a required resolution for all millage rates levied in the county, including those of the Forsyth Board of Education and the new South Forsyth Community Improvement District (CID).
