Ifrah Siddique visited the store in Riverdale to get new shoes, but somehow an unsecured mirror landed on her, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported.

Cousin Aquib Iftkhar spoke to Channel 2 Action News when the girl’s parents were too distraught.

He described the 2-year-old as an adorable little girl; really cute. The freak nature of her death left everyone without words, Iftkhar told the news station.

“You wouldn’t really expect it,” he said. “We are all in the state of shock.”

A woman who works next door heard the screams, Channel 2 reported.

“I just saw blood and the little girl, but she was just laying there lifeless,” La Tisha Tultaick said.

When Tultaick tried to help, emergency crews kept her back. The little girl was taken to Southern Regional Medical Center where she later died.

“She had internal bleeding and she lost a lot of blood,” Iftkhar said.

A mirror and window repair truck parked outside the store Saturday, Channel 2 reported, but many questioned remained unanswered for the family.

“At least they are fixing it, but still the question is why wasn’t it secured in the first place,” Iftkhar said

Payless Shoes sent a statement offering condolensces during the family’s “time of incredible loss.”

"We are devastated by this tragic event and are fully cooperating with authorities to research and understand the nature of this accident,” the statement continued. “Out of respect for the family, no further information will be provided at this time."
