Fees for liquor production considered
The Chamblee City Council will consider charging fees for issuing liquor manufacturing licenses during its work session 6 p.m. Thursday at Chamblee City Hall, 5468 Peachtree Road. The measure would help track and monitor entities producing liquor within the city.
Additional agenda items include:
• The discussion of using eminent domain to acquire the right-of-way for the Chamblee Dunwoody Streetscape Project.
• A public hearing about development of community impact approval for properties at 5208 Peachtree Boulevard, 5251 Peachtree Road, 2050 Will Ross Court and 3413 Catalina Drive.

Ceremonies to honor historian Eddie Fowlkes
Three ceremonies are scheduled this week for Decatur High historian and all-around Renaissance man Eddie Fowlkes who died April 1, after a 19-month battle with brain cancer.
A remembrance ceremony featuring several members of Fowlkes’ family is set for about 6 p.m. Thursday at McKoy Park, 534 McKoy Street, Decatur, between innings of the Decatur High-Cedar Grove regional tournament baseball game. A remembrance run honoring Fowlkes is 8 a.m. Saturday at Winnona Park Elementary, 510 Avery Street, Decatur. Everyone is welcome.
A service for Fowlkes is 11 a.m. Saturday at North Avenue Presbyterian Church, 607 Peachtree Street, Atlanta.
Fowlkes, 62, was a graphic artist, learning the craft from his grandfather who ran Rice Printing near Georgia Tech. He joined the Decatur High faculty in the late 1970s, taught graphic arts, was long-time cross country coach (the Winnona run features his old course), baseball coach from 1982-2002, and was the century-old school’s official historian.
In recent years he also gave acclaimed, anecdote-rich tours at Turner Field.

Dunwoody
Sustainability program encourages composting
The Dunwoody Sustainability Committee will discuss developing educational composting materials for homeowners during its regular meeting 7:45 a.m. Thursday at the Dunwoody City Hall, 41 Perimeter Center East, suite 250.
The goal is to encourage residents to compost more items instead of placing them in the trash. The group will also consider development and adoption of a bicycle parking policy for all city properties and consider offering incentives for incorporating green building techniques.
