An historic pavilion in Powder Springs Park will be rehabilitated for $147,670 by Leatherwood Inc.

The Cobb County Board of Commissioners voted to use funding from the 2011 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax for the facility at 3899 Brownsville Road.

This pavilion is mentioned in historical documents as being present during the Civil War, said Eddie Canon, director of the Cobb County Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department.

Photographs from the 1920s verify the location and dimensions of this octagonal wooden structure that has been reinforced and modified through the years, Canon added.
