The Cobb County Board of Commissioners agreed Tuesday to take five properties on Cobb Parkway at Windy Hill Road for an intersection improvement.

However, right-of-way negotiations are continuing with the property owners.

The properties include 1.2 percent of Windy Hill Plaza Shopping Center, about 15 percent of Fast Tax Refund retail building, 4.1 percent of Car Service and Tire Center, 9 percent of coin laundry Lavanderia and 6.5 percent of a parking lot.

Project lengths are nearly a half mile on Cobb Parkway and three-tenths of a mile on Windy Hill Parkway.

Dual left-turn lanes will be added on the north and south legs of Cobb Parkway, and the existing dual left-turn lanes will be lengthened.

A right-turn lane will be added on the west leg of Windy Hill Road.

Improvements also include the addition of a third northbound lane on Cobb Parkway that exits at Terrell Mill Road and the addition of dual southbound right-turn lanes on the north leg of Cobb Parkway.

This project will tie in to another project on Windy Hill Road between Cobb Parkway and Interstate 75.
