During its April 14 school board meeting City Schools of Decatur announced the hiring of three new central office staffers, including replacements for two high-level staffers who resigned last December.

Adena Walker is hired as Director of Staff Support, a job that includes the Human Resources division, and Lonita Broome is the new Executive Director of Finance. Walker replaces David Adams and Broome replaces Susan Hurst, both of whom left on Dec. 31.

Walker’s start date remains unclear, but Broome begins April 22. She recently was the Chief Business Manager for the Atlanta Police Department and before that was Executive Director of Business Services for Clayton County Public Schools. She has over 17 years of finance experience.

Meantime Tiffany Lawrence has been named nutritional director after the retirement of Allison Goodman. Lawrence’s most recent job was student nutritional director for Griffin-Spalding County Schools and she has over 17 years of experience in food and nutrition.

Interviewing continues for the Glennwood and Westchester Elementary principals, with a total eight candidates participating in a first round of interviews this week and a second round next week.

Noel Maloof, former Decatur High principal and CSD’s Executive Director of Operations has left to become Deputy Chief Operations Officer for the DeKalb County School System, his final day was March 27. The position has been posted and Superintendent David Dude anticipates finding a replacement “as soon as possible.
