Officials from Avondale Estates met with Euramex Management last week to discuss an early draft for developing 17 acres in downtown. Though he gave only a few details from the two-hour meeting, Mayor Pro Tem Terry Giager said he was “expecting to see a little more.”
The city specifically wants more greenspace and parking in a massive development likely to include townhomes, apartments, restaurants, retail and possibly a grocery store.
Euramex is developing the former Fenner Dunlop site (13 acres), which it owns, and the four additional acres bought by the city last year. The 2.77-acre “Erector Set” property, also owned by Euramex, is part of the development’s Phase 2. Giager said Avondale will meet with the developer again in January and he hopes some of the key retail partners will be revealed then.
