The Cherokee County Planning Commission approved an assisted living center but took a more jaundiced view of a pair of subdivision rezonings.

Commissioners recommended approval of Centric Development’s proposal to rezone about 4.7 acres on Ga. 92 near Ragsdale Road from residential to office/institutional for a 120-unit assisted living facility.

Commissioners also approved Pacific Group’s request to rezone nearly 30 acres along Charles Cox Drive from agricultural to residential for a single-family residential subdivision, as part of the Falls at Hickory Flat. They attached a condition that a second fully-functional entrance/exit be built.

And commissioners denied a plan to rezone an 18.3 acre tract along Ball Ground Highway for a residential subdivision, citing the need to preserve substantial swaths of land there for the county’s push to bring in industry.
