The body of a 79-year-old Carrollton man missing since January was found Sunday, according to post on a family Facebook page set up to aid with the search.
"On Sunday, daddy was found," the family said Tuesday in a post on the "Bring Lamar Putnam Home" page. "Our hearts are broken that his homecoming was not here in Carrollton. However, we rejoice that he is safe at home with his Creator."
Lamar Putnam, who had been taking medication to treat dementia, was last seen alive on Jan. 16 at a gas station in Cleburne County, Ala., about 35 miles west of his home in Carrollton, Putnam's daughter, Katie Filipovitz, earlier told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
After searches involving hundreds of people over the past months turned up no sign of Putnam, human remains were discovered Sunday along the banks of the Tallapoosa River in Randolph County, Ala., according to the Times-Georgian.
It is near an area where Putman’s unlocked truck was found in January. His keys, wallet, eyeglasses and cellphone were inside the truck.
