Cobb hires firm to oversee stadium construction

Sept 9, 2014

Cobb County commissioners on Tuesday hired a firm to represent taxpayer’s interests during construction of the new Atlanta Braves stadium.

Atlanta-based Heery International was named project manager for the stadium, which means it will review construction progress on the $622 million project. Heery will be paid a maximum of $1.5 million for its services.

A joint venture of four firms, calling itself American Builders 2017, will manage stadium construction. The stadium is scheduled to open in time for the 2017 season. Heery will be the “owner’s rep” on the project and report quarterly to commissioners on stadium progress.

Heery was approved for the job by a 3-0 vote. Commissioners Helen Goreham and Bob Ott were absent.
