Enrollment is up in a big way at historically black colleges and universities, and Donald Trump may be responsible.

The National Center for Education Statistics reports that 38 percent of HBCUs saw enrollment increase by at least 10 percent between 2013 and 2014. Researchers and experts say the trend persists, and suggest the current political climate, mixed with reactions to police shootings involving white police officers and black victims, is making people take a second look at what HBCUs offer.

Locally, enrollment is up at Clark Atlanta. Spelman officials reported a record number of applicants for the current school year.
