Jannine Miller, the executive director of the Georgia Regional Transportation Authority, announced Monday that she is resigning to take a senior management position at Home Depot.
The GRTA Board of Directors voted unanimously to appoint Kirk Fjelstul, the deputy director, as acting executive director. He will take over the new role Friday.
“While I am sad to leave GRTA, I am excited about this unique opportunity to apply my career experience and professional education in a private-sector transportation finance capacity,” Miller said in an emailed statement.
As head of GRTA since 2010, Miller has overseen the operation of the Xpress commuter bus service’s 33 routes, which provide more than 2 million commutes annually.
Fjelstul has held various management positions since joining GRTA in 2000, most recently deputy director.
