A Griffin man who disappeared Aug. 25 with his two children after he was ordered to turn them over to social service workers turned himself in to police on Tuesday.

The Griffin police said Kenneth Gregg Owens, 37, and his children met investigators at a lawyer’s office Tuesday and the 9-year-old and 11-year-old were immediately handed over to the Department of Family and Children Services.

Owen was jailed on charges of kidnapping, interference with child custody and cruelty to children in the first degree.
