A high school student in Clayton County is accused of not only taking a gun to school, but threatening to use it in an attempt to steal someone’s cellphone, authorities said.

Lovejoy High School officials told Channel 2 Action News the student, who has not been named, will face criminal prosecution as well as school discipline for the incident Monday.

The teenager threatened to steal a fellow student’s phone while flashing the gun after school, officials told Channel 2. The school sent a letter to parents saying the student was captured on video with the weapon.

The school district said no students were in danger, despite one parent telling the news station the student pointed the firearm at her daughter.
