A Gwinnett County man is in custody after a standoff with a SWAT team that lasted more than an hour.

Police spokesman Wilbert Rundles said detectives went to the house on Meadow Wood Lane near Cruse Road to look for stolen motor vehicles. When the detectives arrived, the man ran inside the home, officials said.

“In the past, there were guns inside the home,” Rundles said in a statement.

There was no evidence suggesting the man was armed, officials said, but SWAT was called out of an abundance of caution.
