The Georgia Department of Driver Services is again able to help customers after a statewide outage put its systems offline for hours Tuesday morning.

A connectivity issue caused by an overnight upgrade brought the system down, DDS spokeswoman Susan Sports told AJC.com. The technical issue hampered customer service at the DDS on what the department’s website says is its busiest day of the week.

An alert on its website said the DDS is "unavailable to serve customers at this time."
In a tweet, the DDS said that most of its services were down "due to unexpected technical problems."

Licences were still issued sporadically during the outage, Sports said. She said the problem was resolved after about two hours, and systems were brought back online shortly after 11 a.m.
