A rabbi of a Forsyth County synagogue alerted police when he allegedly saw a man rummaging through the front desk, and deputies say the man was an attempted burglar.

Johnny Ezell McDonald Jr., 20, of Alpharetta, was arrested Saturday after leaving the synagogue. He was charged with criminal trespassing because he did not steal anything, deputies confirmed.

Deputies intercepted McDonald on his way back to Alpharetta, Forsyth County sheriff’s Cpl. Doug Rainwater said.

McDonald has since been released on $680 bond.
