Residents of a Gwinnett County apartment were briefly evacuated early Saturday after a predawn fire broke out at the Highland Valley complex in Norcross.
Investigators are treating the 3 a.m. blaze as an arson.
County fire Lt. Colin S. Rhoden said a caller to the 911 dispatch center spotted the fire after arriving home sometime around 3:20 a.m.
Firefighters arrived to find the two-story wood framed apartment building in flames. The fire was quickly brought under control and two thorough searches were completed, Rhoden said.
No one was injured in the blaze.
Two adults from an adjacent unit, however, were displaced due to smoke damage, Rhoden said. There was fire damage reported to two rooms in the apartment where the fire started. No one was at home at the time.
Because the fire was not confined to one area, fire investigators believe it was set intentionally, Rhoden said.

Georgia Arson Control Inc. offers a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for arson.
