More than two months after a man was fatally shot in southwest Atlanta, police Wednesday announced an arrest in the case.
Just after 12:15 a.m. June 24, police found Jamarius Pennyman dead in the courtyard of the Providence at Cascade on Fairburn Road. At the time, police told Channel 2 Action News that the victim was standing in a crowd when the gunman went up to him and shot him.
“We have received information that would indicate that he was with a larger group of folks,” Atlanta police Capt. Paul Guerrucci told the station. “We don’t believe that any of them were involved.”
A warrant was issued for the arrest of 20-year-old Steven Blunt, who surrendered Tuesday at the Underground Precinct, Sgt. Greg Lyon said Wednesday.
He was taken to the Fulton County Jail on multiple charges, including two counts of murder and one count of aggravated assault with intent to murder.
A first appearance hearing will be held Wednesday.
