Everything at the General Muir is great. There may not be anything in the city I like more than a Reuben from the General Muir followed by a serving of their rice pudding. It uses a thick grain rice and it's sweet and savory with a crunchy topping. It is unlike any rice pudding I've ever had. It may be the perfect dessert. — Noah Green, Atlanta

One reason the desserts at the General Muir are so great is the attention to detail paid to every component of the dish. This rice pudding recipe, created by pastry chef Chris Daugherty, provides one more example. Not your mother’s rice pudding, making it is a production, but worth the time. It’s also not as sweet as many rice puddings we’ve sampled.

You can find vanilla bean paste at specialty cooking stores such as Cook’s Warehouse.
