Back to school shopping will translate into an additional 250 jobs at JCPenney stores in metro Atlanta. Within the last month, JCPenney announced that it wants "energetic local associates ... for a variety of customer service and support positions."
Throughout the metro area, JCPenney stores are located at Northlake in Atlanta, Mall of Georgia in Buford, Northpoint in Alpharetta, Arbor Place in Douglasville, Gwinnett Place in Duluth, The Mall at Stonecrest in Lithonia and Town Center at Cobb in Kennesaw. Shaw Industries, the world's largest carpet manufacturer headquartered in northwest Georgia, is looking to fill 45 immediate openings for plants located in Bartow county and the surrounding area. Resurgens Orthopaedics operates 21 offices peppered throughout metro Atlanta. For the past six years, they have been named as one of the best places to work in Atlanta by the AJC. Multiple Georgia county school districts
As the start of a new school year is less than six weeks away, counties across metro Atlanta are trying to fill hundreds of openings for teachers and support staff. Gwinnett schools are looking to hire more than 250 teachers before the school year starts on August 8. In fact, the district is prioritizing its search for special-education teachers, with 93 special ed teacher vacancies
Teachers are in high demand in DeKalb County, as well, where job retention is a crippling challenge. Despite several raises this year, the district is currently looking to fill 372 vacancies.
Cobb is looking to hire no less than 200 educators between now and the time school starts in August, and the Clayton County School District wants to hire 300 teachers within the next month.
