Vice President Joe Biden has made a date in Atlanta for a Sept. 3 speech at Ahavath Achim Synagogue in Buckhead.
Biden's lecture, “Challenges Facing the U.S. and the World in the 21st Century,” is free and open to the public. The appearance comes amid increased talk of Biden's possible run for the presidency.

The New York Times had the scoop over the weekend:
Mr. Biden's advisers have started to reach out to Democratic leaders and donors who have not yet committed to Mrs. Clinton or who have grown concerned about what they see as her increasingly visible vulnerabilities as a candidate.
The conversations, often fielded by Mr. Biden's chief of staff, Steve Ricchetti, have taken place through hushed phone calls and quiet lunches. In most cases, they have grown out of an outpouring of sympathy for Mr. Biden since the death of his son Beau, 46, in May.
Biden was last seen in these parts raising money for Michelle Nunn's U.S. Senate campaign last year.
Update 12:40: Another interesting nugget about this appearance: Hillary Clinton gave the same lecture as a senator in 2005, in a partially taxpayer-funded swing that was combined with a fundraiser. USA Today reports:
According to an Associated Press report, Clinton used the speech to accuse President Bush of squandering the good economy her husband had left behind. "Borrow and spend, borrow and spend, that's all we've done the last four years," Clinton said.
Clinton also held an event that day with local Democrats, raising $31,000 for her 2006 re-election, including $2000 from Eizenstat, who said the trip and fundraiser were his ideas.
Clinton accepted the invitation to speak "without any condition," Eizenstat said. "She didn't call me and say, 'I'd like to do a southeastern fundraiser.'" Eizenstat said he arranged the event at the home of a local couple "to meet local Democrats." Her campaign covered $3,500 worth of travel costs for that trip, records show.
