GHSF Daily asked Georgia head coaches to answer these four questions. We'll report from a different head coach each day.
Chad Phillips, Starr's Mill
1. Who is/was the most influential person in your coaching career? "Mike Earwood [formerly of Starr's Mill, now head coach at Our Lady of Mercy]. His attention to detail and his relentless work ethic made him one of the top coaches around."
2. Who is the best Georgia player you ever faced? "Eric Berry [of Creekside] was a game-changer at whatever position he was playing."
3. What is the best team you ever faced as a coach? "The 2001 Northside team with Chansi Stuckey and company were pretty tough. The 2013 Creekside team was solid, too."
4. If you were Gary Phillips, the new head of the GHSA, what would be the first rule that you would try to change? "The GHSA needs to adopt the NCAA rules. Spectators, officials and even coaches are constantly getting the rules confused. It would make for a better product if we all had the same rules. That way the players, coaches, officials and fans can watch games on Saturdays and expect the same calls during our games."
