How low can metro Atlanta’s gas prices go? Well, they may have already hit rock bottom, according to the latest analysis from GasBuddy.com
The average price in metro Atlanta dropped 9 more cents in the past week, averaging about $1.99 a gallon for regular unleaded based on a survey of 2,134 stations, GasBuddy reports.
With refineries cutting production and wholesalers increasing prices, however, the party is coming to an end.
“The four-month slide in gasoline prices has indeed come to a halt,” Gregg Laskoski, senior petroleum analyst with GasBuddy, said in a statement. AAA’s Daily Fuel Gauge Report also suggests the drop in average gas prices in metro Atlanta is slowing.
That doesn't mean, however, that you can no longer fill your tank on the cheap. There were stations in metro Atlanta that were selling regular unleaded for as low as $1.81 within the last 24 hours, including Marathon and Mobil stations on Ga. 138 West near I-75 in Stockbridge, a Sam's Club on Jonesboro Road near Battlecreek Road in Morrow and a Chevron at Marietta Highway and Univeter Road in Canton.
Unleaded regular was also selling for $1.82 and $1.83 a gallon in Woodstock, Canton, Covington and McDonough, and for $1.84 in parts of Alpharetta and Duluth. (Check out GasBuddy's daily roundup at atlantagasprices.com
Metro Atlanta’s average gas price for unleaded is below the national average of $2.05. The national average is up 2.7 cents in the last week.
