An argument led to a man being shot near the Five Points MARTA station in downtown Atlanta on Friday morning, police said.

Atlanta police confirmed the man was shot at the station on Alabama Street around 6:30 a.m. and taken to a hospital. Information about the extent of his injuries was not released, but he was described as stable.

The shooting appeared to have taken place on a sidewalk outside the station. Police declined to confirm where the argument began.

Several officers were still at the scene collecting evidence and speaking to witnesses shortly before 9 a.m.
