His rant after the NFC Championship game and his feud with Michael Crabtree notwithstanding, Seattle cornerback Richard Sherman was the star of the week leading to Super Bowl XLVIII.
Here’s a brief Q&A with Sherman, a fifth-round pick out of Stanford in 2011.
Q: Will the Seahawks be ready to face Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos?
A: The intensity at practice is the same as it's been. Guys (are) going after it. You don't see nervousness in guys' eyes. You don't see guys acting any different than they would on any other day or any other week of the season. They're going out there and following the same routine as they have all season long. You just get the sense that guys are comfortable in the situation and comfortable in the moment.
Q: Can the Seahawks’ defense establish a legacy in the game?
A: I think we'll take it as a challenge, obviously. We want to go out there and perform just like (Manning) wants to go out there and perform, and I think these are the two best teams in the NFL and the best quarterback in maybe NFL history. It's going to be a tremendous challenge for both sides.
Q: What’s with the 24/7 mantra?
A: It's just a saying. Guys are accountable 24/7. Guys have to be accountable for their actions. Guys have to always abide by the rules, which we only have three: Take care of the team, no whining/no complaining and be early. Those are the simplest rules ever.
