If you are one of the 60,000 people who will participate in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race, here are some training tips provided by Atlanta Track Club and Reebok Training spokeswoman Carrie Tollefson.

These are guidelines to consider when we are three weeks away from the Fourth of July race, which is Friday.

Stay active

Get acclimated to the weather, and pay attention to your body. If you are just starting out, run four miles and let the race be your longest run.

New shoes

Now’s a good time to get new shoes, just make sure you break them in and run at least twice in them before race day.

Focus on your running form

Make sure that you are running as efficiently as possible. Remember to run tall and look forward, keep your shoulders loose and try to keep your arms at a 90-degree angle. The more you are able to move your arms, the easier it is for your feet to do the same.
