Left’s radicals shouldn’t drag society backward
The “new” far left has appeared out of the progressive wing of the Democrat Party. It is now their intention, if they win the House, to erase our national borders and roll back the tax cuts recently enacted, among other not-so-sane ideas. How far left are they? Some states want to give citizens of foreign nations, without proper visas, in-state tuition while U.S. citizens from neighboring states pay higher tuition. Seattle wants to tax workers of companies with $20 million in gross revenue to make the “rich” pay their fair share. In San Francisco, in 2020, if you build a large apartment complex for affordable housing, you must install solar panels – making already expensive housing even more so. If this is a taste of the “new” Democrat party, no thanks. People are back at work, incomes are rising, tax revenues are on the increase, the dollar is strengthening. Why should we go back?

Prison isolation units should appall humanity
The headline, “Expert: Prison isolation unit is ‘draconian’” (News, May 17), is an inadequate prelude to the horror of the revelation contained in the article. Caging humans in deplorable, inhumane confines, deprived of sensory and familial contact, has me crying out from the depth of my being for reform and justice, “This is my body.” Georgians claim to be strongly religious yet the essence, “Love your neighbor as yourself,” is totally depleted when “draconian” isolation units exist, with persons caged by the state. Unfortunately, probably not one sermon this weekend will mention this terror rampant in our midst, so immobilized in action and deadened of heart are we by the avalanche of inane tweets and twitters that swirl around us to keep our eye off the prize. Our humanity is at stake. Come, Martin and spirit, we are desperately in need of fire.
