Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said he would consider Ohio Gov. John Kasich for vice president.
“I have had a good relationship with John, I think John will be very helpful with Ohio,” Trump told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer on Wednesday. “I would be interested in vetting John.”

Kasich has repeatedly said that he has no interest in being vice president.
“Whether he’s vice president or not, I think he would be very helpful with Ohio,” Trump said.
Dr. Mark Caleb Smith, director of Center for Political Studies at Cedarville University, said he believes that Trump needs to quickly start thinking about vice president and cabinet selections, especially since he can’t unify the entire Republican party.
“In (Trump’s) position in the party, it would be wise to try to pluck prominent party members for those posts if it’s at all possible,” Smith said.
On Kasich as a possible vice presidential pick, Smith said: “I think he’s the natural choice for vice president for Donald Trump; (Kasich) keeps denying that, but I think he would give Trump a lot of credibility, I think he would also give Trump a chance to win Ohio in November, and I think he would also moderate Trump’s image quite a bit.”
Smith said he’s heard a rumor that Ben Carson is heading up Trump’s committee to vet the vice president candidates, which means that there’s also a chance that Carson could become Trump’s vice presidential pick.
