Suburban life no longer carries the stereotype of living away from the action of the city. You can find great restaurants and lots of fun things to do, in addition to good schools and bigger houses.

City dwellers looking to move to the 'burbs will want to check out Owners.com's best neighborhoods for new homeowners.
None of those won our poll for best suburb of Atlanta, though.
The fifth place finisher was Roswell, in North Fulton. The city's Convention and Visitors Bureau touts Roswell as a place with "Modern Spirit. Southern Soul."

In fourth place, with three votes more than Roswell, was Marietta, in Cobb County. "Before there was an Atlanta or a Chattanooga there was Marietta, Ga.," the city's website states. "A small cluster of homes near the Cherokee town of Kennesaw were reported as early as 1824.

The No. 3 suburb was Alpharetta, in North Fulton. "Alpharetta is known for its excellent school system, job opportunities, shopping, restaurants, cultural events, parks and access to work," its website states.

The No. 2 finisher was Decatur, in DeKalb County. In Decatur, "you'll find a traditional small-town atmosphere — and the sophistication and excitement of a college town — along with all the benefits of living in a major metropolitan area," its website states.

Which suburb will wear the crown for the next year?
Brookhaven, in DeKalb County, officially became a city in 2012. The city stretches over 12 square miles but, according to its website, has about 18 parks.
