The sports bar, Tilted Kilt, in Buford saw its A rating drop to a U because food was not being protected from contamination during a recent routine health inspection.

An employee was observed transferring cooked calamari from the fryer to a customer plate using bare hands. The food was discarded.

Another employee used a gloved hand to place raw chicken on the grill. The gloves were changed afterward, but hands were not washed. The employee continued to work, handling tortillas. This food was also thrown away.

Tilted Kilt Pub and Eatery, 3480 Financial Center Way, Buford, scored 69/U on the inspection, dropping from previous scores of 94/A and 90/A.

Additional points were taken off because foods were not stored correctly to prevent cross contamination.

Raw fish and raw calamari were stored above chili, mashed potatoes and macaroni & cheese in the walk-in cooler. Raw eggs were stored behind cooked onions in the line drawer cooler. And unwashed peppers were stored above ready-to-eat food in the walk-in freezer. All the foods were separated and organized to comply with the food safety code.

Points were also taken off because an open beverage container was on a food preparation table near the cook-line and a clean slicer.

Editor's Note: Tilted Kilt has since been reinspected and scored 89/B.

In other news, these recently reviewed restaurants pulled up their health scores during follow-up inspections: Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar, 5176 Highway 278, Covington, 88/B; Yuki Teriyaki & Sushi, 1573 Highway 20, Conyers, 82/B.
