DeKalb County will begin the process of replacing nearly 2,400 feet of water pipe near a busy corridor on Thursday.

Starting on Sept. 19, crews will set up a detour at the intersection of Hollywood Drive and Lawrenceville Highway (aka Scott Boulevard), the county said in a statement.

Jordan Lane, between North Decatur Road and Scott Boulevard, will be closed to through traffic every day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. until Oct. 31.

Crews will begin construction for the Scott Boulevard Water Main Replacement Project, during which the county plans to increase the size of nearly 2,400 feet of water pipe near North Decatur and Scottdale.

The county did not say how much the project costs.

DeKalb has done several water pipe replacement projects over the last several years as part of its continued overhaul of its aging water and sewer systems.

DeKalb has already completed pipe replacements this year in North Druid Hills and Glendale areas. The county is also pouring $20 million into replacing water pipes that were installed as much as 100 years ago in neighborhoods near Briarcliff and North Decatur.
