A human skull found Sunday in a Gwinnett County river is that of a missing Norcross woman, police said.

Ceaulovone Milner, 45, was last seen March 28, Gwinnett police spokeswoman Cpl. Michele Pihera said.

On Sunday, a man told police he was fishing on the Yellow River when he noticed a human skull just below the surface of the water, Pihera said. The skull was found in the area of Riverside Drive and Lake Lucerne Road in unincorporated Lilburn. Investigators determined through dental records the skull belonged to Milner.

The cause of death is unknown, and the case is still active.

“Though this is a tragic outcome, we hope that the family can grieve her loss and begin the healing process,” Pihera said.

In March, Milner left a friend’s house and said she would call when she got home to the Indian Trail Apartments. Milner never made that call, Pihera said.

When Milner’s daughter arrived at her mother’s apartment March 31, she found Milner’s vehicle in a nearby parking lot. The woman’s cellphone and keys were missing.

“She loved her car and she was always in it,” Shalon Jones, Milner’s sister, told Channel 2 Action News at the time. “It’s unusual for her car to be there and her keys not be there.”
