Brookhaven will reopen its three city-owned pools just in time for Memorial Day weekend.
The north DeKalb County city will open its pools Saturday, May 29, and they’ll stay open until Sept. 6. Brookhaven has public pools in Murphey Candler Park, Briarwood Park and Lynwood Park.
“We’re looking forward to operating at full capacity this summer,” Brian Borden, the city’s parks and recreation direction, said in a news release. “I encourage everyone to come out and enjoy the pools, and if you have a chance, you should check out our renovated Briarwood Park pool.”
Like most cities, Brookhaven reduced the maximum number of people who could use the pools at one time last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, this year’s pool season will return to normal operations. The city is encouraging social distancing, and city staff will sanitize furniture after each use. Hand sanitizer will also be available.
The city’s typical pool-related events, namely its “Dive-In Movie Nights” and “Doggie Dip Days,” are set to take place throughout 2021. The city will announce specific event dates at a later time.
People can either pay a daily admission fee or purchase a season pass to use the pools. Daily admission costs $3 per child, ages 2 through 17, $5 per adult and $1 for seniors, ages 55 and older. For groups of 20 of more, there is a $2 per person surcharge.
Season passes cost $80 per child, $120 for adults and $60 for seniors. A family of four has the option to pay $250 for a season pass. More information is available at secure.rec1.com/ga/city-of-brookhaven/catalog.
