Yoga classes are held in all kinds of places beyond the confines of a typical studio: parksstadiumsbreweries.

But what about doing downward dog, child’s pose and warrior in a cemetery? Atlanta’s Oakland Cemetery is hosting a series of yoga classes beginning in March.

The classes will be held on the second floor of the Bell Tower and led by Lauren Barton, Oakland staff member and instructor at Nirvana Yoga and Mystic Lotus Yoga.

The small group class is meant to be gentle and accessible for all-levels of yogis : incorporating breathing, stretching and “deep relaxation.”

The class is $15 general admission and $10 for members of the Historic Oakland Foundation.

The cemetery, at 248 Oakland Ave. SE, is known for having a whole host of events — from gardening classes to tours.

The one-hour yoga class will be held one Friday a month through September. More information can be found on Oakland's website.
