Local artist creates Coors Light can art at Sun Trust Park

Most people don’t look at 500 beer cans and see art.

The Atlanta-based sculptor recently created a nearly  8-foot sculpture made of old Coors Light beer cans that will sit atop the Coors Light Chop House Deck in SunTrust Park.

“I thought it was very interesting,” said Broussard. “I’ve worked with recycled material in the past. I’ve gathered them from metal yards, thrift stores and places of that nature.”

Nearly 500 cans were collected during the team’s home games. The sculpture is  made in the shape of the iconic Braves “A” logo and meant to encourage recycling efforts .

“This sculpture is the literal result of Braves fans and Coors Light drinkers pitching in to help create a more sustainable future,” Zach Fatla, Coors Light senior marketing manager, said in a statement.

The sculpture is part of Coors Light’s “EveryOneCan” summer program, a nationwide program that which encourages environmental stewardship through repurposing recycled materials and rewarding consumers for reducing their environmental impact.

Broussard created “tiles” from the recycled cans.

She cut off the tops and bottoms of the cans, split them up the middle and unrolled and flattened them.

She then drilled rivets and attached them to the steel structure. It gives the look of a tiled surface and is nearly 8-feet wide.
