Cane Creek Farm organic growing course

Whether you’ve got a green thumb or are greener than grass when it comes to gardening, Cane Creek Farm invites you to learn the basics of sustainable farming. This year, the farm is holding four sessions of organic growing courses beginning Feb. 27. The classes run for eight weeks and are a mix of online and in-person on the farm, with the latter happening every other Saturday. Each course is taught by Lynn Pugh, who developed the course as Georgia’s first-ever organic curriculum.

Tossed Out Treasures

Disappointed with duds at the discount stores? Tired of thumbing through things at the thrift store? Find some real deals at the Tossed Out Treasures event this weekend. Now in its 25th year, this fundraiser features home décor, furniture, art, jewelry, crystal, sports equipment, silver and gently used clothing. The organizers are members of the Sandy Springs Society, and they've been busy for months acquiring these discarded gems.

JOHNS CREEK

Side by Side! orchestra performance

The Johns Creek Symphony Orchestra’s commitment to helping young musicians perfect their talents will be on display as the youngsters of the Piedmont Youth Orchestra join the veterans in this performance. More than 80 musicians from both groups will play a variety of pieces together. On the program: “Danse Bacchanale” from “Samson and Delilah” by Saint-Saens, “Academic Festival Overture” by Brahms and “Prelude to Die Meistersinger” by Wagner. After the intermission, the youth will join the audience in enjoying the symphony’s performance of Beethoven’s Fifth.
