Gap has recalled thousands of baby swimsuits after receiving complaints that they may cause a child to be strangled.

Gap and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission have pulled two styles of the baby swimsuits after determining that the halter straps were made too short – causing the plastic ring at the neck of the suit to press into the child’s throat and block the airway.

Two people have complained to Gap, but no injuries have been reported, the consumer commission said.

The swimsuits were sold in two styles: blue-and-white, with the number 706206; and red-and-white with the number 700452.

The suits were sold in infant sizes up to 24 months, the commission said. They are made of a synthetic knit stretch fabric of polyester and spandex.

The style number can be found on the swimsuit’s label, the commission said.

The suits sold for between $17 and $20, the commission said. Customers should return them to the Gap for a full refund. If the suits were bought online, consumers can contact Gap to return by mail.
