In a commentary published on Fortune, PowerToFly president Katharine Zaleski admits that when she was younger, she questioned the work ethic of her co-workers who were mothers.
That all changed when Zaleski became a mother.
When Zaleski began juggling motherhood and a career, she realized how unfair it was to schedule last-minute meetings at the end of the day, when many parents need to pick up their children from day care or school. She also silently judged the commitment of colleagues who declined to go out for cocktails after work.
Fed up with the traditional office workplace model, Zaleski created her own company that helps connect women in the tech industry with jobs that can be done remotely.
