It's not beneath me to show pictures of cute babies and animals when necessary. For many of you readers, it's probably an improvement over another shot of Kim Zolciak.

So here we go:

Two Atlanta babies are in the running to win $125,000 in college funds in Regis & Kelly’s annual “Beautiful Baby” contest. That might be enough to pay for a semester of college in 2028! Today, the babies and parents are in New York City getting their pictures taken for a possible cover shot in Parenting Early Years Magazine.

Here's Maggie Sue Romeo from Braselton. At age 3, she's more like a toddler but the contest does allow contestants up to the age of four.

And this is John Jeffrey Simmons of Mableton is 17 months old:

On Friday, we find out who wins. (Locally, “Regis & Kelly” airs on WSB-TV at 9 a.m.) The four runners up each get $25,000. Not bad! Plus, a year’s supply of Turtle Wax! No, no no. Gerber products.

Voting is already over after 250,000 votes, but if you want to see the top 5 finalists, go here at www.livesbeautifulbaby.com

You can see the top 10 babies here.

Here were pictures taken today of the families with Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa. On top, Dana Romeo poses with her daughter and the two hosts. Below, mom Angela Simmons and Sean Simmons join John, Regis and Kelly.

In 2022, Georgia Power projected its winter peak electricity demand would grow by about 400 megawatts by 2031. Since then, Georgia has experienced a boom of data centers, which require a large load of electricty to run, and Georgia Power's recent forecast shows peak demand growing by 20 times the 400-megawatt estimate from just three years ago.
